Weatogue Wellness

Services

One of the most beautiful aspects of this work is that every session is unique, as opposed to a “one size fits all” approach. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a modality that first and foremost respects the wisdom of the client’s system, as opposed to the agenda of the practitioner; my job is not to know or to do, but to observe, listen, guide, and follow. And as such, whatever your needs are on that day — in that moment — are what we work to meet.

At its most basic level, a session is time set aside to be present and see what arises. After arriving, we will most likely sit across from each other and talk about what’s going on for you that day – what things in your life are nourishing or depleting, and how those going-ons feel in your body. Sometimes we talk for just a minute or two; other days, the majority of our time together may be conversational – especially for the first few sessions, when we are working toward establishing trust between client and practitioner.

Eventually we will move to the table, and my first goal is to make you as comfortable as possible. This is a time for you to be picky and particular, for you to learn how to be in touch with and communicate your needs, to ask for what you want and set boundaries around what you don’t want. That could be anything from a blanket and extra pillows, to changes in the amount of light in the room, or the addition of music or nature sounds.

After ensuring comfort, my job is to settle the room, so we can embark on a journey of mutual meditation. I usually stand off to the side for a bit, and then move to the base of the table to hold your feet. Every time I move to a different spot on the table, or initiate physical contact, I will ask for consent. Similarly to advocating for their comfort on the table, learning how to say “no” or “not yet” when it comes to physical contact is a crucial skill for the client.

When I make contact with the physical body, I’m listening with all of my senses, and tracking what’s happening in you. It’s a long and gentle approach to holding various parts of the body and settling my hands, which allows me to tune into the anatomy – the bones, the tissues, the fascia, the fluids – as well as the emotional story of the client. I’m listening for the health, and helping my client tune into what feels right and whole. My job is to observe from a place of neutral curiosity, and bring what I notice to your attention. When difficult feelings come up – whether physical ailments, past emotional traumas, birth patterns, or ancestral wounds – we orient to a resource, to a safe place we’ve constructed in our mind’s eye. We sit with discomfort from a place of safety, until it can reorganize and resolve.
